Welcome, and thanks for your interest in the Elmwood Writer's Group. While this site is under construction, please check us out at our Yahoo! group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elmwoodwritersgroup.

We are a group of writers and aspiring writers who meet to socialize, encourage each other, and provide a critique of one another's work. We are a fairly small, intimate group typically numbering from 5 to 10 members. We meet every Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Spot Coffee on the corner of Delaware Avenue and E. Chippewa Street in Buffalo, NY.

I don't have it written down with me at the moment, but it was close to that. Anyway, the idea behind the quote was something vague about writer's block.

Good morning/afternoon/evening/night folks,

I know I said I wanted to have this up yesterday morning, but I'm a liar and I think that's something everyone should know about me. Anyway, here is the agenda for the next week.

Quote - You know what's going on there, but I thought I'd mention it. If anyone has any suggestions of something they think would be fun to write about for 7 1/2 minutes, I'm all ears. Otherwise be prepared to bend to my whim.

This is kind of a test to see how this newfangled website thingamabob works.

But(!)... I will also start posting certain announcements here to begin the slow transition over to this website as opposed to the Yahoo group, which I feel strongly that we should still use for the time being. Long story short, this weeks Artinerary will be posted on the front page of this website as well as on the group messageboard. Here's to hoping this works.

Our meetings typically begin with a 7-1/2 minute optional writing exercise. The focus of each meeting is to critique or "workshop" writing that members are looking to improve through group feedback. We also discuss topics related to the writing profession, plan public readings, and anything else that members are interested in pursuing. We are presently working on publishing a literary journal in December 2008.
